Zirconium Veneers

Dental veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance.
Zirconium full veneers have become the most popular option for veneers in the world, over recent years in order to correct the colour, shape and size of teeth for a greater aesthetic appearance. Zirconia is the material which is used in porcelain teeth for supporting purposes for one of the highest strength outputs on the market. Although there are many different material options, zirconium is becoming more and more popular, the reasons for this can be found below in the advantages text. Zirconium full veneers can be manufactured in a wide variety of shades and shapes meaning they can be suitable for a larger variety of people. You are also able to choose your own specific shape and shade enabling you to have your own bespoke smile, designed for you.

One of the main features of zirconium veneers is down to its high strength and ability to totally transform a smile. Zirconium veneers also have the ability to have a slight transparency to give the aesthetic of a natural tooth structure. This benefit gives an appearance that is close to the actual structure with similarity to the natural tooth structure and enamel (very similar to emax veneers or crowns).

In the past, dental clinics across the world have used an opaque material to manufacture veneers and crowns which can give a white appearance but does not compare with modern zirconium capabilities. The fact that zirconium offers less health damaging issues in comparison to older material choices, makes it possible for customers to choose it with their safety and health in mind. For zirconium full veneers/crowns to be fitted the natural teeth do require to go through a filing/shaving process so that the new teeth can essentially be cemented over the top using a strong adhesive. Our dentists will always do the upmost to file the minimum amount of natural tooth leaving a maximum material condition.

Our dentists spend a huge amount of their time designing and fitting some dazzling zirconia veneers, and have the practice down to a fine art. However, with added quality comes a little more time, meaning the process for creating zirconia veneers can take 7-10 days to complete. The procedure is very similar to other veneer fittings: An initial assessment is carried out to check that a zirconia veneer is a viable option for the patient, whether any tooth preparation is required, and then a mould is taken from which the veneer will be crafted over the next few days.

Once the zirconia veneer is made and all preparation work completed, a second appointment is made during which time, a trial fitting will take place, and any adjustments are noted and made. Porcelain may be used in addition for the zirconia to achieve the desired colouring. Finally, the adhesive is applied by a skilled practitioner, and the zirconia veneer is fitted.

Due to the strength of these high-class dental veneers, relatively little after-care is required, however you will receive some aftercare advice, and can then enjoy the rest of your time in Turkey.

To look at zirconia’s natural sheen, you may be surprised to know that it is actual a metal –zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) – technically related to titanium which is one of the reasons that the veneers are so strong.

If applied correctly and with proper use (no excessive chewing of hard objects or direct impacts), then a set of zirconia veneers could last between 10 and 20 years
While some veneers require the tooth enamel to be stripped, this is always not nessecary with all veneers, which if applied correctly, may actually protect your natural teeth.
Zirconia is used to make veneers because it is 100% biocompatible, and does not leak chemicals or other toxins into the body. More durable than many other commonly used materials, it is also less likely to shatter.
